About
My practice is steeped in process-led making; I tell material stories using the traditional materials of home. I embrace the tell-tale signs of the maker, echoing the imperfections of bodies and self.
Leonora Lockhart is a multidisciplinary artist based in London and Lisbon. With a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, her academic journey includes studies at Central Saint Martins and the London College of Communication. Lockhart’s work delves into the narratives of women who have been overlooked in the mainstream art world. Her approach is informed by personal experiences, evolving into a profound investigation of female identity shaped by auto-ethno-biographical and primary source research.
In her practice, Lockhart embraces collaboration through 2nd Shift, where she examines the complexities of being an artist and a mother. This dual focus allows her to respond to the intricate dynamics of creativity, motherhood, and identity, seeking to elevate the voices and stories of women in the art community. Her work invites reflection on the nuances of female experiences, contributing to a broader dialogue about representation in contemporary art.
